Oya Obinidodo: A Nail Polish Update

It’s Oya Obinidodo here, and I wanted to take a moment to revisit a topic that’s always buzzing in my world: nail polish. Some of you might remember my previous blog where I shared my thoughts about manicures and my strong stance on this beauty trend. Well, I’m back to confirm—once again—that I still don’t wear nail polish and have no plans to start.
Let’s be clear: I despise red and black nail polish. I find those colors to be downright nasty-looking. It baffles me how some people feel these shades enhance their style—if anything, they do the opposite for me. Let’s face it, people tend to associate certain colors with certain lifestyles, and I’ll be honest—I’ve noticed a trend. It seems like those who do gravitate toward red and black polish often lean a certain homosexual way in their personal lives. I'm not here to judge; I have my own preferences and priorities.

As for me? I’m straight, and I hold my beliefs firmly. If you’re a man who wants a partner who gets their nails done, I’m not the one for you. I’m serious. I won’t change for any man’s expectations. And if I might add, I believe it’s actually a man’s place to rock the nail polish if he chooses—it's not my place.

This is about being true to myself. I don’t need nail polish, a nail salon, or fake fingernails, or anyone’s opinion on what I should do with my appearance to feel confident and empowered. So to all my loyal readers, consider this a reminder: Oya’s nails remain untouched by polish or fake fingernails, and they will stay untouched.
