In an age where social media can amplify voices both positively and negatively, the pressures placed on public figures are immense. Recently, rapper, singer, and independent filmmaker Oya Obinidodo opened up about her harrowing experiences with bullying and societal judgment, shedding light on a dark aspect of fame that often goes unnoticed.
Oya Obinidodo has been candid about the toxic environment that surrounds her, especially when it comes to the lies spread by those she turns down. "Every time I say no, that’s when the fabrications start," she explained. These allegations can range from hurtful claims about her mental health to outright accusations challenging her identity. They label her a man, a thief, and even go so far as to assert that she is a copycat. “None of that is true,” she emphasized, illustrating the pain that these unfounded assertions bring.
What makes the situation even more distressing is how these rumors gain traction. Those who spread these falsehoods often find willing listeners, eager to believe the negative narrative being spun. Oya Obinidodo noted, “They think I’m not credible because of my mental health, but I’m not lying.” This stigma surrounding her mental health has, unfortunately, made her an easy target for gossip and distortion.
In her heart-wrenching disclosures, she also addressed the misuse of her personal life as a weapon against her. “They lie and pretend that I’m in a relationship with them,” she stated. Oya Obinidodo clarified that she is currently not in any relationship and has never slept with a woman, a fact she went public with after taking a lie detector test in October 2024. The results are available on various platforms, including Vimeo and YouTube, yet the lies persist unabated.
Oya Obinidodo resides in a mostly gay area, and many find it hard to believe that she has never had a relationship with a woman. "It's not fair," she said. "I've been straight my whole life, yet people continue to lie about me and put me down." She went on.

Many individuals believe that she is familiar with everyone who is spreading these misleading allegations, dismissing her as a 'nobody' and asserting that she lacks celebrity status. In reality, she has no connection to any of the individuals who claim to have a personal relationship with her. "I don't know any of them! They aren't part of my life! Why do people continue to believe these fraudsters?" Oya Obinidodo expressed her frustration.
The insistence on spreading harmful misinformation doesn’t just stop at personal attacks; it extends to infringing upon her privacy. Oya Obinidodo shared that some individuals falsely claim she poses a threat to others, allowing them the pretext to stalk and monitor her activities. “I don’t need to be watched,” she asserted, highlighting the violation of her privacy that she has endured for years.
Tears in her eyes, Oya Obinidodo implored for her tormentors to cease their relentless harassment. “They’re compulsive liars and they’re obsessed with me. It’s disgusting,” she wrote on the social media platform Parler. The emotional toll of such continuous bullying has led her to yearn for a life away from the chaos of the city, where the drama and the shadows of stalkers loom large.
In a world that often prioritizes sensationalism over truth, Oya Obinidodo’s story serves as a stark reminder of the personal battles faced by those in the public eye. Hers is a call for understanding and compassion—a plea for the privacy that everyone deserves, especially when navigating a landscape rife with hostility.
As she continues to advocate for herself, it is imperative for society to not only listen but also to provide support and take a stand against all forms of bullying. This collective effort is essential in creating a more inclusive and compassionate environment for everyone.
