My Experience with Vimeo: A Cautionary Tale

I've been a long-time user of Vimeo, enjoying its features and the community it fosters for filmmakers. However, today, my experience took a turn for the worse. This story is important for anyone considering their subscription or navigating the world of online platforms, so here’s my cautionary tale about why I no longer use Vimeo for regular service.
I had paid for a yearly subscription in April, anticipating the high-quality service that Vimeo is known for. However, without any notice, my subscription was abruptly cancelled. I was baffled – where was the heads-up? When I reached out to restore my account, the support team informed me that they had no record of my purchase. I was left feeling frustrated and disheartened, especially as I still had my receipt to prove the transaction.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, I contacted Google Play for a refund, hoping to reclaim my hard-earned $95. To my dismay, that request was denied without a clear explanation. It’s disconcerting to feel like you’re fighting a battle on two fronts when all you want is a service you’ve paid for.
While I’ve decided to step away from using Vimeo’s regular platform, there’s a silver lining. My movie, ‘Tent Of Terror’ will still be available on Vimeo OTT. It's a bittersweet feeling; I value the platform for its ability to showcase films but can’t support a service that has treated me this way.
That said, I am not entirely done with Vimeo. I plan to continue using Vimeo OTT for future short films and feature films. I'm looking forward to sharing more of my creative work with the audience through that avenue, but I won't be using the regular Vimeo anymore.
To anyone who might be in the same boat or contemplating their use of Vimeo, it's worth scrutinizing your options carefully. A small oversight or lack of communication can quickly turn into a frustrating experience. Stay tuned for my next steps as I continue to navigate the film industry and share my journey with you.
As always, it’s important to share these experiences, and I hope my story serves as a cautionary note for others in the creative community.
