The Journey of Fortitude: Moving Beyond My Past

| My mugshot from the last time I was incarcerated for a crime I didn't commit (2018) |
Today, while browsing online, I stumbled upon two mugshots of myself that I had never seen before—one from 2010 and the other from 2018. Both are associated with assault charges that unfairly reflect a part of my life I wish to leave behind. Let me clarify: I was wrongfully accused. I never laid a hand on anyone. In fact, I was the one who was assaulted, but I chose not to snitch. I bore the burden of these charges, which is both sad and disgusting, but I learned to live with it.
My past has shaped who I am today, and as painful as it is to confront, I’ve made it my mission to rise above it. To navigate life in a healthier direction, I’ve distanced myself from those who embody negativity—lames and snitches have no place in my world. I keep my circle tight and my focus sharper, steering clear of haters and weirdos. Since my last incarceration in 2018, I’ve committed to maintaining my freedom. The experience taught me invaluable lessons about trust and self-preservation.

The reality is, the world can be filled with people who may want to set you up, and it’s crucial to stay vigilant. I’ve learned to watch my back and surround myself with those who lift me up rather than bring me down. Each day is a step forward on a path of resilience.
I will not let my past define me. Instead, I use it as fuel to guide my choices and keep me on track. My journey is far from over, but each moment away from the system has fortified my dedication to living a more positive and successful life. I'm committed to moving forward, staying clear of trouble, and embracing a brighter future.
